Wrocław’s Foundation of Art History Students and the Museum of Architecture

During two lectures prepared uniquely for seniors Wrocław’s art historians will remind the most important problems related to post-war reconstruction of Wrocław in the context of the overall vision of urban planning and architecture. The aim of these lectures, as well as a post-lecture discussion, is to confront art historians’ knowledge about this period with memories of residents - witnesses of all these changes taking actually place.

Dr. Agata Gabiś and Michał Duda will discuss important objects which were created at the time and have permanently shaped the landscape of our city. This lecture will also be a reminder of buildings already somehow forgotten but important at that time, because of social expectations, such as residential development. On the other hand, Dr. Tomasz Mikołajczak during his lecture

"Temples life after life. Changes in church architecture of Wrocław after 1945 " will address a sensitive, not only in the previous regime days, issue of sacred heritage, both Catholic and Lutheran. Tomasz Mikołajczak will also discuss problems which conservators of Wrocław’s churches face.
